(Phyciodes mylitta)

Caterpillar hosts: Native thistles (Cirsium), milk thistle (Silybum marianum), European thistles (Carduus loilk)

Adult food: Flower nectar.

Mylitta Crescent butterflies are found anywhere from sea level to 8000 feet in mountains, fields, meadows, roads, vacant lots, parks, and fencerows.

How You Can Help
Hallberg Butterfly Gardens

  1. Learn to appreciate butterflies in your own gardens and neighborhoods.

  2. Come to the Hallberg Open Gardens Day and show your support through a donation:.

  3. Volunteer either as a docent leading walks for school children or else as a garden worker helping groom and plant the garden.

  4. Become a Friend of The Garden at a level you can afford. All donations benefit projects improving the garden.
