In a yard, garden, park, window sill, roadside, or open space… what will you discover?

  • Butterfly Host Plant List & Observation Form - Review examples of local butterflies and the plants their caterpillars eat (host plants) and record your observations of butterfly activity throughout their lifecycle. Please be mindful not to disturb plants and animals while making observations.

  • INaturalist is a great way to keep track of your observations and identify species while also contributing to research and conservation of biodiversity. Visit the website to learn how to start your own account and manage your profile. It’s as easy as posting on social media.

  • Nature Journal - Record your observations from hand to pen to increase awareness of your surroundings and long-term memory. This can be as simple as paper and pen or include other mediums such as watercolor paints, photos, and poetry.
